Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Pride Center of the Capital Region—and that means you can be part of something truly special. By sharing your time, skills, and passion, you become a vital force in creating affirming spaces, providing essential resources, and strengthening the LGBTQIA+ community.

Whether you’re supporting a youth program, leading a peer group, helping behind the scenes in our office, or bringing energy to our signature events, your contributions help us build a world where everyone can live openly, authentically, and without fear.

No act of service is too small. Every hour volunteered, every conversation facilitated, and every event supported helps bring connection, support, and empowerment to those who need it most. Together, we can foster a stronger, more inclusive Capital Region—one where LGBTQIA+ individuals feel celebrated, safe, and supported.

Are you ready to be part of this movement? Explore the many ways you can get involved and sign up today! We can’t wait to welcome you to our incredible team of volunteers.

Welcome to Pride Center Volunteer Central!

Who can volunteer?
Anyone passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community is welcome! While some roles require specific skills or training, many opportunities are open to all, regardless of experience.

Is there a minimum age requirement?
Most volunteer roles require individuals to be at least 18 years old. However, some event support roles may be open to younger volunteers with parental or guardian consent.

Do I need prior experience?
Not at all! We provide training and guidance to ensure all volunteers feel prepared and supported in their roles.

What is the time commitment?
Time commitments vary by role. Some positions, like Support Group Facilitators, require regular engagement, while others, like Event Volunteers, are more flexible and seasonal.

Do volunteers receive training?
Yes! Depending on your role, you may need to complete specific training sessions. Support Group Facilitators, for example, must attend trauma-informed care and conflict resolution training before leading sessions.

Can I choose which events or programs to help with?
Absolutely! Volunteers can sign up for the programs and events that best align with their interests and availability.

What if I need to cancel a shift or take a break?
We understand that schedules change. We ask that volunteers notify the Program Coordinator (volunteer@capitalpridecenter.org) as soon as possible if they cannot attend a shift. If you need to take a longer break, just let us know so we can plan accordingly.

How do I get started?
Fill out the volunteer sign-up form, and our team will reach out to discuss next steps, including training and onboarding.
